INTRODUCING MMU ACADEMIC PROGRAMS 2012/2013
Located near the southern slopes of Mount Meru, in Ngaramtoni area, Mount Meru University is a fountain of real knowledge and wisdom that produces excellent, God fearing, visionary, skilled, proactive, hardworking and transforming servant leaders. The university main Campus is located approximately 15 km north of Arusha city, along the Arusha-Namanga highway and has a town center located in the Tanzania Telecommunications Company Limited (TTCL) building.
The university, based on the letter of approval by TCU to advertise, is introducing graduate studies program in the following disciplines for the academic year 2011/2012.
GRADUATE PROGRAMS
- Masters of Business Administration with concentrations in:
General, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Marketing and International relations. Applicants for this program shall be required to possess one of the following academic qualifications.
I.) A bachelors degree with a minimum of second class lower division ( Preferably a Bachelors of Business Administration) from an accredited University or college coupled with 3 years or working experience OR
II.) An advanced or Higher Diploma with a minimum of second class lower division (preferably a concentration in business studies) from an accredited institute or college of higher learning coupled with 3 years of working experience OR
III.) Unclassified degree (preferably a Bachelors of Business Administration) provided the Cum GPA is not less than 3.5 on a scale of 5.0 or 2.8 on a scale of 4.0; OR
IV.) A full professional qualification coupled with 5 years of working experience. The MBA prospective student must submit an application and cover letter with curriculum vitae, certified copies of degree documents and corresponding transcripts, two letters of recommendation from persons who are in a position to judge the applicant’s ability and character, a complete medical form signed by a professionally authorized medical doctor, a statement of 400 words of why the student wishes to pursue an MBA Degree and a non-refundable processing fee of TSH 30000.
- Masters of Arts program in Community Development.
The minimum entry requirements are:
I.) A bachelors degree with a minimum of second class lower division from an accredited university or college OR
II.) An advanced or higher diploma with a minimum of second class lower division from an accredited institute or college of higher learning OR
III.) An unclassified degree provided the total GPA is not less than 3.5 on a 5.0 scale or, 2.8 on a 4.0 scale OR
IV.) Any other education that is equivalent to an undergraduate degree and
V.) Satisfactory results of Tests of English Proficiency exam, which includes a 1,000 word essay on the topic of why the candidate is applying for admission into the Master of Arts in Community Development. The prospective students desiring to enroll in the Masters of Arts in Community Development (MACD) program must submit a complete application form with the following attachments. Current Curriculum Vitae, Certified copies of Degree documents and corresponding transcripts, two letters of recommendations from persons who are in a position to judge the applicant’s academic ability and one who can judge the person’s moral character, complete medical form signed by a professionally authorized medical Doctor, 400 words essay of why the applicant wishes to pursue a Master Degree IN Community Development and Anon- refundable processing fee of TSH 30,000. MACD & MBA programs are both offered as evening programs in our town center. The university also offers undergraduate and Diploma programs in different faculties at both the main campus in Ngaramtoni and town campus center.
UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS
C. Programs of study in the faculty of Theology include:
Ø Bachelor of Theology
Ø Bachelor of Theology with Education
Ø Bachelor of Christian Education
C. 1.Diplomas in the faculty of theology includes:
Ø Diploma of Theology
Ø Diploma in Christian Education and
Ø Diploma in Church Music.
D. Programs of study in the Faculty of Education and Business studies include:
Ø Bachelor of education with one major and one minor selected from the following subjects: Accounting, Economics, English, Geography, Guidance & Counseling, History, Information Communication Technology, Mathematics, and religious Education.
Ø Bachelor of Business Administration with concentration in Accounting and Finance, Marketing, or entrepreneurship.
Ø Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration and Human Resource Management.
Ø Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
Ø Bachelor of Arts in Community Based Development.
D. 1.Diplomas in the faculty of Education and Business studies include:
Ø Diploma in Business Administration.
Ø Diploma in Marketing
Ø Diploma in Human Resource Management.
Ø Diploma in Education (with either, mathematics & geography, Geography & English, Geography &History, or History & English)
Ø Diploma of Education with Music.
Ø Diploma of management in Tourism & Hospitality.
Entry requirements for Bachelor Programs.
The minimum direct entry requirements for admissions into MMU’S Bachelor programs is at least two principle passes at the ‘A’ Level secondary school education examination with a total of not less than 4.5 points.
The equivalent entry is:
1.) At least three credits or five passes in approved subjects including English Language at the ‘O’ Level secondary school Education examination AND
2.) A relevant accredited Diploma of not less than second class, or a credit or average of “B” grade.
Entry requirements for Diploma Programs.
As for a diploma program, the direct entry is:
1.) At least three credits or five passes in approved subjects including English Language at the ‘O’ Level certificate of Secondary Education OR
2.) At least one good principle pass and two subsidiaries in appropriate subjects at the ‘A’ Level secondary School Education examination with a total of not less than 3.5 points. The equivalent entry is
1.) At least three credits or five passes in approved subjects including English Language at the ‘O level secondary school education examination.
2.) A certificate relevant to the program applied for with a minimum grade point Average of 3.0 or its equivalent.

The MMU town campus offers short courses and evening classes to carter for those who are not available for the full time classes. There is English proficiency short course for only 6 months and computer packages for 3 months. Registration is now going on for these short courses at the Town Campus.
